Biography
Scott Murray is a partner with Hoover Hull Turner LLP.
For more than 20 years, Scott has been representing clients in complex litigation throughout the country. Whether in state court, federal court, or arbitration, Scott zealously advocates for his client’s interests and works to achieve the most favorable outcome. Scott’s practice encompasses commercial disputes of all kinds, including those involving contracts, partnership disagreements, commercial leases, construction contracts, class actions, antitrust, defamation, fiduciary duties, trade secrets, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, tortious interference, securities, corporate governance, license agreements, RICO claims, and insurance coverage.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE
From 2001 to 2006, Scott was an associate in the trial department at McDermott, Will & Emery LLP in Boston, Massachusetts. From 2006 to 2014, Scott was an associate and then partner at Barnes & Thornburg, LLP, in Indianapolis, Indiana. From 2014 to 2020, Scott was an Executive Vice President and the General Counsel at a publicly traded REIT listed on the New York Stock Exchange. From 2020 to 2024, Scott was an attorney with MacGill P.C., a litigation boutique in Indianapolis, Indiana.
RECOGNITION

Scott was also recognized by a local community group in Boston for his pro bono work in representing a class of low-income residents whose homes were damaged by sewage and stormwater overflows.

- Defending one of the largest real estate brokerage companies in the country against class action antitrust claims asserted in multiple federal courts; damages sought exceeded $50 billion.
- Representing pastor asserting defamation and related tort claims against entities who falsely accused him of sexual assault.
- Representing co-founder of company accused of committing fraud and violating Indiana Securities Act in connection with selling his ownership.
- Representing real estate brokerage company in New York in class action asserting claims for breach of fiduciary duty in connection with dual agency transactions; total damages sought exceeded $100 million.
- Representing racing team in connection with multiple contract disputes.
- Representing medical device manufacturer in arbitration defending against claims for breach of contract.
- Obtaining full recovery for federal credit union in substantial contract dispute and settlement of novel securities claim.
- Serving as lead counsel for bank defending against multimillion-dollar fraudulent transfer claims; led joint defense group to obtain favorable precedent and settlement.
- Serving as lead counsel for defense contractor defending against misappropriation of trade secret and non-compete claims
- Serving as lead counsel for automobile finance company defending against antitrust, trademark and tortious interference claims; settlement produced net gain for client.
- Defending litigation funding company in multiple venues, including London Court of International Arbitration.
- Representing software company in connection with contract claims asserted in federal court.
- Defending client against contract claims related to the purchase of an airplane.
- Representing real estate brokerage asserting copyright claims against an infringing technology company.
- Representing electric utility in connection with dispute over coal supply agreement.
- Defending stockbrokers against various tort claims asserted by former employer.
- Defending agriculture company in class actions across the country asserting claims related to the release of genetically modified corn.
